I’m an Extension Cord

Christians, when we minister to people (preach, pray for, bring healing, restoration), we are going to the outlet (God), getting electricity (power from God through the Holy Spirit) and transferring it to the other side of the cord, the side where someone can plug into us to receive the power.

As an extension cord, it is vitally important that we make sure that we are plugged into that power source daily, hourly, weekly, monthly, yearly, constantly because we may never know when someone is going to need the power that we are plugged into. You don’t know when you are going to need God’s power, but you do know you will need it.  As an extension cord, it is our job to bring the power to the ones who need it. Once they receive it, and realize they need this power in their own lives, we make it known that they need to plugged in directly to God, for their own lives. We’re directing them to the outlet, telling them they need to go get plugged in and receive power from the source.

Christians, as extension cords we only transfer so much power, some of the intensity is lost in the duration it travels through the cord.  To get the full effect, the full intensity, the full magnitude of the power, you have to get it from the source, receive it directly from the source.  Once people are plugged in and they are functional with the power, then they can start to be useful, they can start to be used by God.

The Holy Spirit is there, waiting to be plugged into, full of power, so much power that it could light up the entire room full of people and still have more left over.  Have you ever plugged into anointed Praise and Worship?  Have you ever plugged in with an anointed preacher and felt the presence so strong?  We are all called to be a “extension cord” of God’s power. The majority of Christians do not understand being plugged in.  They go their whole life trying to figure out how to use the power of the Holy Spirit or try to hot wire energy from another source, or plug into the wrong outlet completely (Satan).

God’s power is extensive, it is intense.  We are called to steward this power He has for us on the earth.  If we are not plugged in, just like an extension cord, we are useless.  People can come to us, but they will not receive the power we have access to, if we are not plugged in.  When we are plugged in, we are fulfilling our purpose.  We are  extensions of God’s power, here to bring light and energy to others and then direct them to the source, God Almighty, Jehovah, Yahweh, our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, in His name, Amen.

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. Acts 1:8 (NIV)

Jesus called his twelve disciples to Him and gave them authority (power) to drive out impure spirits and to heal every disease and sickness. Matthew 10:1 (NIV)

As you go, proclaim this message: ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.’ Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons.  Freely you have received; freely give.  Matthew 10: 7-8 (NIV)

For the kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power.  I Corinthians 4:20 (NIV)

The WRONG Power, confronting the REAL Power:

Now for some time a man named Simon had practiced sorcery in the city and amazed all the people of Samaria.  He boasted that he was someone great, and all the people, both high and low, gave him their attention and exclaimed.  “This man is rightly called the Great Power of God.”  They followed him because he had amazed them for a long time with his sorcery.  But when they believed Philip as he proclaimed the good news of the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.  Simon himself believed and was baptized.  And he followed Philip everywhere astonished by the great signs and miracles he saw.  Acts 8:9-13 (NIV)

You know of Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed Him with the Holy Spirit and with Power, and how He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.  Acts 10:38 (NASB)

You are to open their eyes. You are to turn them from darkness to light. You are to turn them from the power of Satan to the power of God. In this way, they may have their sins forgiven. They may have what is given to them, along with all those who are set apart for God by having faith in Me.’ Acts 20:18 (NLT)

Even Jesus, on the Earth was plugged into the Father

Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the father is in me?  The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority.  Rather it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work.  Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the works themselves. Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.  And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.  You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.  If you love me, keep my commands.  Acts 14:10-15 (NIV)
