Christians, previously I was in the process of cleaning up a new possession. Where we used to live in Indiana, when people would move in or out, or were simply done with something, they often left it out near the dumpster. Nothing was wrong with these items, but they had no further use for them. My wife and I had often found different useful household items, that are in great working condition to this day. Many of them, we would wonder, why would anyone throw this out?
Whenever I found myself with a new possession in this way, the first thing I did was a good DEEP clean. All the cracks and crevices, dust, dirt and debris. I like to get off the dirt that someone else put on the item. When I was doing this one time, God gave me the revelation that He does this to us, Christians, all the time.
Many of us have been used by people, for a season, then they move on, or get someone new, it often feels like we are dumped by the trash. Sometimes it’s our own family members, that use us when they can, and when they are done, they leave us all alone. Many times it’s our own choices that cause us to get caught in the dirt and filth of this life. When we get so dirty we often feel like we are nothing. God has his eye on us, when we feel the dirtiest, lowest, most worthless, like TRASH, God comes along. He picks us up, He says, “I have a plan for you, I can use you for something, and takes our hand.”
The first thing God will do is clean us up. We need to be cleaned, Christians. God wants to use us, but He does not want all the dirt and filth that people have put on us. He wants to use us for His kingdom. The purification process can be long, hard and tiresome, but rest assured, it is worth it! The longer you were ‘dirty’, the longer it can take to make you clean, but we can speed it up, when we don’t fight the process.
I had just been working on cleaning an old metal folding chair. I was using a good disinfectant wipe. I was cleaning UNDER the seat, a place that no one would see, but a dirty place with spider webs and dust. I noticed the name “Rose” on the bottom of the seat. As I scrubbed over the chair, I notice that the name began to fade. I then focused my energy on removing that name, this wasn’t “Rose’s” chair anymore, it was mine. I got the name completely wiped off, I was happy, then I thought, “I want to write my name on this chair, after all it is now my possession.” God at that very moment, revealed in my spirit, that it is His desire to do the same thing to us. He wants to remove old names, old identities.
Unlike when I find stuff for free, God paid a VERY high price for you and me, we are His PRIZED possessions. He will write His name on us and seal us forevermore. You were once lost, so was I, but now we are found. We are saved, sealed, and redeemed. We need to live and act as prized possessions of our King. When God presents the opportunities, when He leads us to those people, the ones who are “sitting beside the dumpster,” and who need to be cleaned up, we need to let them know, that they too are a prized possession, that God will write His name on them. No one is trash, we are all treasures to God, in Jesus name, Amen.
Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin. Psalm 51:2 (NIV)
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. I John 1:9 (NASB)
[Jesus] gave Himself for us to redeem us from every lawless deed, and to purify for Himself a people for His own possession, zealous for good deeds. Titus 2:14 (NASB)
Do you not know that the unrighteous and the wrongdoers will not inherit or have any share in the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived (misled); neither the impure and immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor those who participate in homosexuality, nor cheats (swindlers and thieves), nor greedy graspers, nor drunkards, nor foul mouthed revilers and slanderers, nor extortioners and robbers will inherit or have any share in the kingdom of God. And such some of you were (once). But you were washed clean (purified by a complete atonement for sin and made free from the guilt of sin), and you were consecrated (set apart, hallowed) and you were justified [pronounced righteous, by trusting] in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the [Holy] Spirit of our God. I Corinthians 6:9-12 (AMP) (emphasis added)
*Christians, who of us has not committed one or many of the sins listed here, but glory to God who is able to cleanse us from any and all of the sins we get into on this earth. So when you see people still struggling with ANY of these sins, show compassion for them, we have all been there and the last thing people need is the dirt in their life, thrown in their face.
And they will see His face, and His name will be written on their foreheads. Revelation 22:4 (NLT)
