Answers from God – There’s No App for That

Christians, I remember days past where if you had a question about something, you thought about it, pondered it.  Then you asked people if they knew the answer.  When they didn’t know, you went to an encyclopedia, almanac, or dictionary and found the related topic. Then you would flip through the pages and find the answer to your question.  Getting answers was slow process.

With the boom of the internet age, search engines would give us the opportunity to phrase questions and be amazed at hundreds, thousands of web pages that would pop up with potential answers to our questions. You still had to be at home or in the library in front of the computer.  With the next wave of technology, smartphones and tablets, give us the ability to be anywhere and search for answers.  It is getting easier and easier, quicker and faster to get answers to questions.  The newest technologies have voice activations where you verbally ask the device a question and it answers you verbally in seconds.  What about when you need an answer from God?

What about when you need direction or guidance? Unfortunately for our physical man, there is no app for that.  I could not imagine if God answered every single spiritual question as fast as the internet.  The reality is, I have no relationship with my search engine, I only want it to give me what I want, when I want it, but God desires intimacy with us, a relationship to commune, to spend time with.  I really believe the younger generation, who have never had to wait for physical answers, who have never spent longer than 30 seconds searching things out, may have a harder time waiting on God.

We need to pull ourselves away from relying on the quick and easy answer, we need to remember from the Word how people received responses from God.  They fasted and prayed.  People of God must go back to these simple roots, to get in touch or ‘online’ with God, to get a good connection, to get in a position to search out God for answers to the question they have, and to download and or receive those answers. Most importantly to put them into practice in everyday life.

God never said it would be easy, but it’s by far the most advanced wireless communication system out there!  He is ALWAYS online and there is always a secure connection when you fast and pray.  There may be not app, but there is a way to hear from God, right now, In Jesus Name, Amen.

This is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.  And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him. I John 5:14-15 (NASB)

Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.  Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts you double-minded.  James 4:8 (NASB)

You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit – fruit that will last – and so whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.  John 15:16 (NIV)

But as for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me. Micah 7:7 (NIV)

Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.  Psalm 37:7 (NIV)
