Darkness Trembles in God’s Holy Light

Christians, have you ever been afraid of the dark?  I remember as a child in my parent’s house, if I was ever home alone, the darkness was eerie. I remember turning on many of the lights.  The house was older.  It creaked and bumped from time to time and in my mind, the “unknown” was scary.

As a believer, now the darkness doesn’t scare me.  I have a huge sword I carry with me that can deliver me from any situation.  The funny thing is, as a child, we can be scared of the Dark, but as Christians, the Dark is now scared of us, because we carry God’s Holy Light.  Darkness cannot exist where light is present.  If you need a visual, turn on and off the light, look around the room.  Darkness only exists when the light is off, and when the light is on, darkness can only exist under tables or behind doors, it is like it’s hiding there and if you shine a light there, it has to leave.

It works the same way with spiritual darkness.  When you have that Holy light of God, darkness cannot hang out in your life.  Darkness will scurry to any areas that you have not removed things for it to hide behind or under.  This light helps us to purify our hearts, drive evil out, and establish God’s dominance and power in our lives.

One way you can tell how bright  your light is shining is by how it affects other people and the areas of their darkness.  The truth in the light in your life shines in the dark areas of other’s lives and sometimes it causes confrontation, anger, or frustration as a result.  It is like you are peeking into their dirty room where they had the door shut.  They know that it is bad and they prefer not to have anyone look in there and tell them what they see.

Christians, we must not only use God’s light to help purify ourselves and then our families and friends, but then to start taking back other areas that darkness has crept into: our schools, our government, our TV, music, internet.  The darkness is literally TREMBLING at the idea of this light coming near them, it is ready to flee.  If we have that child mentality, where we are afraid of the dark, we will never advance on the darkness and drive it away.  But if we take up our sword of the Spirit, the Word of God, that burns brighter than the sun, we can start taking back the areas that darkness has held captive.  Don’t stop until you, your family, friends, etc. are basking safely in the Holy light too. In Jesus name, Amen.

The people who walk in darkness will see a great light; those who live in a dark land, the light will shine on them. Isaiah 9:2 (NASB)

Because of and through the heart of tender mercy and loving kindness of our God, a light from on high will dawn upon us and visit us.  To shine upon and give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to direct and guide our feet in a straight line into the way of peace.  Luke 1:78-79 (AMP)

In him was light, and that life was the light of all mankind.  The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.  John 1:4-5 (NIV)

For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord.  Live as children of light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) and find out what pleases the Lord.  Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. Ephesians 5:8-10 (NIV)

When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world.  Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.  John 8:12 (NIV)
