NEW – UNUSED

Christians, recently I was typing up some church notes and in the column of one of my pages I had written New-UNUSED.  The message was talking about how we are a new creation in Christ Jesus, how the old things have passed away and all things have become new.  The word UNUSED I had put in a box and God began to give me this revelation. In this life, we have been used by many people for many different things.  Some for our benefit, some for theirs. Some positive and encouraging, some degrading and defiling, horrific. God began to show me, that when we are saved in Christ, we are a new creation, and that means we are pristine, in new packaging, we are UNUSED!

My wife recently ordered new sippy cups for our youngest child, when they arrived she opened the box and the cups were out of the package, the pieces were all loose in the box.  As she went to assemble the cups back together, one of the tops was missing from one of the cups. Although this was a “new” product, something was wrong with it, it was not complete or whole.  Whether a packer dropped it and didn’t notice that they missed a part when they tossed it loose into the box, or whether in the factory a worker had missed a part when assembling it, someone had done something to this product to make it “not  whole.” So when we got it, we could not use it for the intended purpose we had for it. My wife promptly contacted the website and they resent out new cups with all the correct pieces, we could tell they were “UNUSED”.

How many of us Christians are walking around as “new” creations in Christ Jesus, yet we have parts missing, like love, joy, peace, patience, or hope, etc.  Or maybe we have scratches, dents, rips, tears that we put on full display so when people encounter us, they do not see a “new” creation but someone who has been USED and ABUSED, tattered or defiled.  If this is the packaging we are putting out to the lost, convincing them that being a Christian is so great, why would they want to follow Jesus? They can be hurt, full of bitterness, messed up, and used without wasting an hour and a half every Sunday morning too.

When Jesus restores and makes NEW, He doesn’t do it halfway, or almost…NO!  Jesus stood there, He was beaten and bruised, He took lashes on His back, His flesh was ripped open on His body, so we could be BRAND NEW, without spot or blemish, that we could be presented to His Father as an acceptable sacrifice.  God needs us to be so clean, so pure, so renewed, why? So we can accurately reflect HIS goodness, glory, majesty, light, HEALING, to a lost and blatantly rebellious world. You may say, but you do not know what has been done to me, am I just supposed to forget that?? No, not at all, that is your TESTIMONY!  Our Testimony is the STORY OF OUR PAST, not the CONDITION of our CURRENT REALITY.

If you are living out of hurts, pains, frustrations from your past and you are a child of God, then you have not fully unpacked your Salvation.  You may have received salvation, but there is so much more than just “making it to heaven.” You may have been in the church for years, decades, a lifetime, and you are still longing to feel “NEW”.  Well today is the day. The enemy wants to label you as “damaged goods” and he will not stop reminding you of what has been done “TO YOU”, and God will NEVER stop reminding you of what He has done “FOR YOU”. Made you BRAND SPANKING NEW! Who will you choose to listen to today?  The enemy, the past, the old you, the hurt, the broken, the USED? Or will you choose to listen to the Word of God, which washes over you, makes you clean, pure, new, everlasting.

If you feel there is ANY area in your life where you feel that you look at and you say, “I do not feel new or recreated in this area of my life.”  Then pray this prayer with me and believe God to make you new: Father God, I thank you for your Love; Jesus, I thank you for taking everything that I have ever done, and everything that has been done to me, upon yourself.  That you have washed me ANEW, that you have not just cleansed me, but you recreated me. You have set me in NEW packaging, untouched, unblemished, unscathed. For a plan and purpose, and I thank you for revealing to me now, my NEWNESS, my purity, and helping me to live from that place.  I purpose to remind myself of what you have done for me, not what others, IN THE PAST have done to me. I will never forget my testimony, but I overcame it by your blood. Thank you Jesus, Thank you God, Thank you Holy Spirit, please work in my life, that I might shine my light and bring Glory, Honor, and Praise to your Name, now and Forevermore, in Jesus Name, AMEN!!!

This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! II Corinthians 5:17 (NLT)

But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our guilt and iniquities; the chastisement [needful to obtain] peace and well-being for us was upon Him, and with the stripes [that wounded] Him we are healed and made whole.  Isaiah 53:5 (AMP)

Yet now has [Christ, the Messiah] reconciled [you to God] in the body of His flesh through death, in order to present you holy and faultless and irreproachable in His [the Father’s] presence.  Colossians 1:22 (AMP)

For we are God’s [own] handiwork (His workmanship), recreated in Christ Jesus, [born anew] that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us [taking paths which He prepared ahead of time], that we should walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live].  Ephesians 2:10 (AMP) (emphasis added)

In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.  Matthew 5:16 (NLT)
