Revelations from God: How do you value them?

Christians, when I started seeking intimacy with God, He started giving me revelations.  What is a revelation from God?  It is not the book at the end of the bible, although that was a Revelation to John.  To me a revelation is wisdom, an idea, thought, or instruction that I receive from God at any given moment.  I can completely see how it functions and how it impacts my life and how it could impact others’ lives.  One day God gave me a revelation about revelations.

I was sorting through my paperwork and finding all these scraps of paper with different revelations written on them.  I used to get a revelation, write down the title and a couple of key points and then over time they would pile up.  I knew I needed to type or write them down completely, but I didn’t fully value them at the time.  I moved them from one location to another and God gave me the revelation about VALUING these revelations like $100 bills.  If someone were to give me a $100 bill, I know I would not shove it into a drawer, crumple it up and forget about it.  I would put it where I put valuable things.  I would put it in my wallet to use, or put it in an envelope to keep it safe until I used it.

I realized that God had been giving me these different revelations for a reason, and what did I do with them?  I felt convicted, God chastens those He loves.  Then I decided to turn my conviction into writing them down and keeping them organized.  I loved receiving the revelations from God, but I would want more before I took the time to cherish what He already gave me. He asked me,  “What are you doing with the ones I already gave you?”

If I gave my son $1500 in $100 dollar bills, and watched him lay them all over the floor, let them get crumpled, and potentially lost some of them. What would I say if he came and asked for more money?  The same as God.  I would say what did you do with the resources I already gave you?  I would want him to put the proper value on what I gave him and to appreciate it before I gave him more.

Christians, revelations, wisdom, instruction, direction, insight, inspiration from God are far more valuable than earthly money.  We need to treat them like diamonds or gold.  If God gives you a revelation or idea, write it down, type it up, treasure it, put it in a safe place.  Like the stewards of the Minas and Talents (Matthew 25 : 13-30, Luke 19 : 11-27), God will hold you accountable for what He gives you.  ALWAYS REMEMBER THAT.  If you are like me and you want more revelations from God, before expecting Him to give you more, make sure you have taken good care of the ones He has already given you, in Jesus name, Amen.

[For I always pray to] the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of Glory, that He may grant you a spirit of wisdom and revelation [of insight into mysteries and secrets] in the [deep and intimate] knowledge of Him, by having the eyes of your heart flooded with light, so that you can know and understand the hope to which He has called you, and how rich is His glorious inheritance in the saints (His set-apart ones).  Ephesians 1:17-18 (AMP)

In Him all the treasures of [divine] wisdom (comprehensive insight into the ways and purposes of God) and [all the riches of spiritual] knowledge and enlightenment are stored up and lie hidden.  Colossians 2:3 (AMP)

Blessed are those who find wisdom, those who gain understanding, for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold.  She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her.  Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor.  Proverbs 3:13-16 (NIV)

How much better to get wisdom than gold, to get insight rather than silver.  Proverbs 16:16 (NIV)

My son if you accept my words and store up my commands within you, turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding-indeed, if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, and if you look for it as silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.  Proverbs 2:2-6 (NIV)
