Christians, we talked about how Salvation is a free gift, now I would like to go deeper into unpacking it. Imagine that big white box with a purple bow. Let’s say I give that type of a box to a young couple getting married. Now, we know this couple will be excited and eager to open it, to unpack that gift. There is no way that they would leave it all wrapped up and stick it in their attic.
Let’s say that inside that box is a $1000 gift card to a nice home furnishing store. The card is in there and active, but they have to open the box and unpack it to find it. Also inside the box, I included some marriage books, some home decor, and some kitchen gadgets. That would be a pretty nice gift. Salvation is much like that box.
In our box of Salvation is the Holy Spirit, active and ready to move in our lives once we receive it, known as being baptized in the Holy Spirit. (Acts 2:38) To achieve this we need to open the Word of God and read the scriptures, if we fully want to have an unpacked salvation experience. You see, just like that gift card gives the young couple the ability to buy more things they need, the Holy Spirit gives us the ability to go to God and receive the peace, love, joy, etc…the Fruits of the Spirit that are included in the free gift of Salvation. (Galatians 5:22-23) He actually give us practical tools to use to have a life of productivity and power. In fact, the ultimate goal of unpacking YOUR gift is to then lead others to the Lord, help them receive their gift, and then as the Lord allows to help them to unpack their gift which is Discipleship. (Matthew 28:19-20)
If we are to become the Bride of Christ at the end of the age that ushers in the return of Jesus and be overcomers, we need to be the Church, full of Christians, who have their gift of salvation fully unpacked and are functioning in all areas of their faith. We need to be adamant about not settling and not stopping the work of God that has begun in our lives.
If we step into the process and pursue unpacking salvation at a deep heart level, nothing will be able to stop us. Christians, pray with me: Dear Lord, I thank you for the gift of salvation you have given me. I thank you for the gift of the Holy Spirit, and I pray that you help me to unpack this gift fully as I seek you daily, read your Word, obey your commands and keep myself pure. Thank you for loving me and helping me, in Jesus name, Amen.
Next Week: Salvation is a Gift Pt. 3 Opposition to Unpacking!
I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high. Luke 24:49 (NIV)
But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you. John 14:26 (NASB)
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control; against such things there is no law. Galatians 5:22-23 (NASB)
These signs will accompany those who have believed: in My name they will cast out demons, they will speak with new tongues; they will pick up serpents, and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick and they will recover. Mark 16:17-18 (NASB)
Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it. John 14:12-14 (NIV)
