It’s a Test

When I was seeking God during one of my many tests, He showed me a little example of how to KNOW it is a test from Him. I had been wanting more revelation about a certain test I was enduring. God showed me this: “If you pray and obey, and it doesn’t go away, it’s a test!” This easy to understand revelation is great, and I have used this many times in many situations, but we have to understand what it fully means.

“If you pray…” Christians, as children of God, we have great authority in the name and blood of Jesus.  We are told that whatever is bound or loosed by our words, it is so.  We are also told that we were healed (PAST TENSE) by Jesus’ suffering on the cross.  We have all authority.  So if we pray, situations or circumstances SHOULD change, things SHOULD be loosed or bound, we SHOULD be healed, we have all this authority, and it SHOULD be done.

“If you obey…”  Everything about prayer is true and it is enough.  We must understand though that God hears the prayers of the righteous.  We cannot be in blatant rebellion (sin) in our lives and expect God to answer our requests. We must be in submission to His written word, we also must be in submission to any spoken word He has given to us.

Okay, so if you are a saved, spirit-filled believer, you have prayed, and you are in obedience with God, and the situation has not changed, now you KNOW it’s a test!  Knowing it is a test will not make it go away either, but at least when you KNOW it’s a test, you can begin seeking God and see what He wants to show you.  “It’s a test” is one of 4 Revelations God gave me when I was going through a personal test years ago. My eye was red and I started asking God to give me revelation why this had not gone away for some time.  He shared with me that it was a test from Him, so then I began to seek what He wanted me to learn through this test.

A true turning point in my walk with God was understanding how to look at tests and trials. God tells us to “consider it pure joy”…PURE JOY?! When we face trials of many kinds.  I see now, through clear eyes, that God has given us authority, we have taken ground in our lives from the enemy.  God does not test us to prove to Himself where our faith is, God tests us to prove to us where our faith is.  God knows our heart.  He knows everything about us.  Sometimes we can talk real spiritual, until a test hits us, then we moan and whine and complain, and act about as un-Christian as possible. We seek the phone (the world) rather than the throne (God).

With my eye test, I had prayed against it, tried an all-natural home remedy, a store bought remedy, and nothing had changed.  It was not until I started seeking God about the test, that I began to see marked improvement in my physical state.  The only way to get through and pass the test, is to live out your faith in God, but you must know that it is a test, in order to pass it.  So in the future, remember, “If you pray, and obey, and it doesn’t go away, it’s a test!”  When tested, stand firm on His word and promises, until it DOES go away, and then you will know, you have passed your test, in the mighty, powerful, and awesome name of Jesus, AMEN!

Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.  Matthew 18:18 (NIV)

And He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you WERE healed! I Peter 2:24 (NASB emphasis added)

When the righteous call for help, the Lord hears, and delivers them out of all their distress and trouble.  Psalm 34:17 (AMP)

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.  Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.  James 1:2-4 (NIV)

The Lord tests and proves the [unyieldingly] righteous, but His soul abhors the wicked and him who loves violence. Psalm 11:5 (AMP)

God blesses those who patiently endure testing and temptation. Afterward they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love Him. James 1:12 (NLT)

  1. Thank you so much for sharing this. It’s so important to constantly remind ourselves that God does not subject us to suffering, but He tests us to prove our faith so we can mature and be strong in Him.

Truly, knowing it’s a test doesn’t make it less painful but it gives us hope and trust that He knows best and He’s up to something good for the end.
