Christians, when I was in middle school, it was the time when those WWJD, (What Would Jesus Do?) bracelets with the tiny buckle were trendy. I remember a couple of my friends wore them, I think I may have had one, but I didn’t have the courage to wear it. Anyway, a friend of mine had a different one that said F.R.O.G., I asked her what that meant. She said, “Fully Rely On God!” I thought it was neat and did not think much else about it.
Now fast forward to when I am 27 and my wife and I were in the middle of a testing/refining period with God. We were waiting on so much, trusting in Him so much and then He highlights an area of our lives where we had “control.” I put that in quotes because none of us truly have any “control” of anything, it’s all perceived control. He challenged us in a big way. The situation was stressful enough, so relinquishing our control to God would be difficult, right? Wrong! You see, when we are in “control”, we try to make things work, we try to stop things from happening, or try to be the god of our lives, you have a plan, think, analyze, etc, it’s very stressful when you think you are in “control”.
When we finally started to Fully Rely On God in this area, wow! It was so great, no longer did I worry, no longer did I care what others thought. I realized I cannot make or stop anything that is in the will of God for my life. I can resist it, fight against it, but if He needs me to go through something, be tested, challenge or chastened – He has the final say. If I am in His will and in submission, it will come or go whether I like it or not. I wrote this on the one year anniversary of our F.R.O.G experience in 2010, the situation was on track, nothing horrible happened, God was faithful as we were faithful. I cannot imagine going back.
Cheri and I have been fully relying on God with this certain area for 6 years and with much success, God has proven how perfect His plan was and is to come! We are absolutely amazed by His perfect timing and wouldn’t want it any other way . The fruit from trusting Him outweighs anything we could have tried to control when we had our own plan.
Christians, it was hard, very hard, at first to relinquish control, it is kind of scary, like an amusement park ride, but once you have ridden the ride and it brought you right back to the starting point safe and sound, it all works out and it was fun, you want to go again and again. He wants to show Himself faithful, but you have to let Him. Trust Him, HE IS GOOD, you can if you choose to FULLY RELY ON GOD, In Jesus Name, Amen.
Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding. In all your ways know, recognize, and acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths. Proverbs 3: 5-6 (AMP)
But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. Matthew 6:33-34 (NIV)
The Lord is my strength and my shield; My heart trusts in Him, and I am helped, therefore my heart exults, and with my song I shall thank Him. Psalms 28:7 (NASB)
