Christians, recently I was thinking about the rain. I enjoy a good rain; it’s refreshing, renewing, and the smell is really nice. Then I was thinking about snow. On occasion I love a good snow (mostly for the kid’s sake for snowmen and sleds), however most of the winter I think “enough already!” I think a lot of people really like rain, and deal with snow. Then I realized, rain and snow are the exact same precipitation, the only thing that changed was the environment that they were received in. When the temperature plunges in the winter, my beloved raindrops turn into dreaded snowflakes.
I began to get the revelation from God that it can be the same way in our relationship with Him. We may really enjoy the seasons and outpourings we receive from God: encouragement, direction, edification. Then I realized we might find ourselves in other seasons where God is pouring out what seems like rebuke, correction, or chastisement. We may see some as blessings and others as punishment. They are ALL blessings from God, it is just the season they are received in is different.
The thing is God’s not bi-polar, He is not changing, God is the SAME, He is in fact unchanging. He is the same loving, caring, God in ALL seasons of our lives. He does not love us one day and then the next hit us with a test because He is mad at us. The test is a blessing as well. Christians, the way we receive it might be different, it might seem like the things that were once ok, now are not. It might seem like the fun is over and now we just suffer. God is the exact same, the conditions might have changed, causing the things from God to SEEM different. He is still trying to help you the same way as before.
If we understand that God’s ultimate goal is for us to fulfill the plan He has for us. If we know that His utmost desire is for us to love Him, and others. Then we can truly allow ourselves to be led by Him. He WILL take us through different spiritual seasons and we WILL experience different outpourings of what He is doing/saying. Some may feel like a warm summer rain, washing over us, and some may seem like a winter blizzard freezing us up in the spiritual moment. Some are more fun or more enjoyable, but all are necessary to our walk with Him.
If it seems like a wintry cold front has moved in on your summer fun with God, it is only a season and He is doing it for your good. Buckle down, stay near to Him to keep warm through the trial and before you know it, you will see the new season around the corner and you will know that God is the same. He loves you and He is leading you into all truth of who He is, Love Him consistently, In Jesus Name, Amen.
To everything there is a season, and a time for every matter or purpose under heaven: Ecclesiastes 3:1 (AMP)
He changes times and seasons, He deposes kings and raises up others. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning. Daniel 2:21 (NIV)
Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. James 1:17 (NIV)
And we know in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28 (NIV)
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:11-13 (NIV)
Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish it’s work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. James 1:2-4 (NIV)
