Turnovers Lead to Loss

Christians, recently I was watching a college football game.  “My team” had a horrible first half but they managed to pull within 7 points by halftime.  They started the second half strong and were about to tie up the game when they fumbled and turned the ball over.  The other team ran it back for a touchdown.  Not too much later they had another turnover which led to another score by the other team.  Finally a little later they threw an interception to end the game.  It made me realize that they had the potential to win, but all their turnovers lead to their loss.

So many times we have so much breakthrough in our Christian walk.  We are advancing in areas of our life and we get close to a new level, a new promise in God, and we fumble.  We somehow mess up and we can turn over our progress.  The enemy is quick to pick up our mistakes and try and run us over, to score on us.  If he can make us lose our testimony he thinks he can make us lose the game. We need to recover quickly, we have to protect our testimony like the team needs to protect the ball.

All too often little fumbles of our faith lead to bigger turnovers or compromises if not quickly recovered.  The enemy uses our fumbles to try to score points against our walk with God.  The enemy’s main goal is to lie to us, to make us feel defeated, to make us feel like we lost our testimony.  If we recover, if we protect our testimony and do not turn it over on silly mistakes, we can advance our calling in our walk with God.

The word says we will overcome, by the shed blood of the Lamb, and the word of our testimony.  That is a bold statement putting vital importance on our testimony.  Christians, I encourage us with the realization that the “game” we are playing is fixed.  The opponent (Satan) has already been defeated!  The only game plan He has against a God-fearing, Jesus loving, Holy Spirit filled believer is LIES, DECEPTION, DISCOURAGEMENT involving our walk and our position with God.

We are all human and we will all make mistakes from time to time.  Take heart, take back ground, recover your fumbles quickly.   Fall on them, by falling on your knees when you do mess up.  Seek out God and His perfect plan and will, because the Holy Spirit coaches you.  Jesus will block for you, so you can run into eternity with all victory.  Hold on tight, be prepared to take some hits, just get back up, you have already won, in Jesus Name, Amen.

And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.  Revelation 12:11 (KJV)

For the Lord your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory.  Deuteronomy 20:4 (NIV)

I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace and confidence.  In the world you have tribulations and trials and distress and frustration; but be of good cheer [take courage; be confident, certain, undaunted]! For I have overcome the world. [I have deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you].  John 16:33 (AMP)

With God we will gain the victory and he will trample down our enemies.  Psalm 108:13 (NIV)

Humble yourself before the Lord and He will lift you up.  James 4:10 (NIV)
