How God Operates

Christians, when I speak to you about how God operates, I am not talking about how God works.  I see God as a great surgeon.  We are His sick and injured patients.  When we come to God, we want Him to treat and take care of the problems we have, the only problem we have with God is how He operates.

God is NOT like a 21st Century Surgeon, who operates in a clean, pristine, operating room.  He does not put you to sleep, do all the necessary work, sew you up and then tell you that He did it all, it went great, and you should be fine.  Nope.

We are in a spiritual battle, fought since the beginning of our time.  It’s a civil war.  You see Satan and his demons are from heaven, and they are trying to secede from God.  They have already lost the war, but this example brings us to how God does operate.  God operates like a civil war surgeon.  If you have ever seen old movies, it is pretty brutal.  The main issue we have now, is the same issue they had back then.  The great surgeon operates on us while we are FULLY AWAKE!  God does not even give us a gulp of whiskey (like they did), He wants and needs us to be fully awake and aware for the surgery He is performing.  We can see God moving.  We feel every cut, incision, poke, prod, and it is all for our good.  Why, you might ask?

This sounds so gruesome.  Christians, it IS gruesome, but not more gruesome than what got us to the operating table to begin with.  From my personal testimony, I have went through YEARS of surgery, the “operating room” or “location” was not pristine/sterile, the tools were not all shiny and new and perfect, (the tools are other people God uses).  I watched God cut things out of my life: lust, pride, selfish ambition, hate, envy, perversion, drunkenness, etc. Everything the enemy SHOT at me that hit me, had to be removed.  Why does God do it while we are awake, aware?

Christians, our testimony is formed by these gruesome surgeries.  God fixes and heals us, and we have the story how He did it. We watched Him do it, we saw the method and tools He used, and sometimes we have Big, Ugly, Jagged scars to prove it.  The next time you feel like God is about to do some “surgery”, embrace the process.  It will go much better. I am not saying it will not be painful, in fact I would guarantee the opposite.  However, it will be worth it and you will feel much better about the process.  God is not just a good surgeon, He is the Great Surgeon.  Allow Him to work on you, come willingly to the place where you do not care how much it hurts, in Jesus Name, Amen.

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.  I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.  Isaiah 41:10 (NIV)

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to his purpose.  Romans 8:28 (NIV)

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.  I John 1:9 (NASB)

But I will restore you to health and heal your wounds, declares the Lord, because you are called an outcast, Zion for whom no one cares.  Jeremiah 30:17 (NIV)

They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.  Revelation 12:11 (NIV)
