Conviction, Education, Application, Passion Pt. 2

Christians, we talked last week about God’s four step process and how it works.  God showed me more about the idea of Passion.  Why passion?  It is a strong will or desire to do something, you cannot be easily persuaded to do.  God instills convictions and educates us (usually) in the desert times, then He leads us to apply it in our lives.  The true test if you have passion or not is if it sticks with you.

God does not change.  If He leads you to something, it is the way you should do it, forever.  I know of a lady, who had a strong will in the Lord, she was on fire for God, getting good teaching, convictions.  She educated herself and started applying it.  Then it stopped.  How do I know?  Through a series of events, I received all of her Christian books and resources.  She had taken notes, underlined ideas, I could tell she was fired up from the Lord.  She was giving these books away as she moved to another state, to pursue an online relationship with a married man.

The problem – No Passion!  We all get fired up at conferences, revivals, prayer meetings, when we hear a good teaching or read a good book.  We can be highly motivated to pursue these ideas for a week or two.  The test comes in how we act the other 50 weeks of the year.  If it’s a conviction, you have certain standards when others are around and they know you hold yourself to those standards.  A passion, you will live out of when no one is around because it is WHO YOU ARE!

I can look at my own life, we are passionate about using coupons.  Through a certain season of my life, God introduced me to the idea of using coupons.  Now my previous mindset, was that coupons were for people who could not afford certain things.  God gave me convictions, education about coupons, I started applying it in my life and you know what, now it is a passion.  My wife and I  (within the legal and ethical restrictions) use coupons with a passion.  We search them out, we will, as long as they are available, use a coupon and give God glory for leading us to great savings.

Another passion of mine is tithing.  Christians, if you have a conviction about tithing, you do it, but perhaps you are not excited about it. Pray that God gives you a passion for giving, and He will!  I used to think I HAD to tithe, it was an obligation as a Christian, a requirement.  God took me through a season where I had no income, I quickly realized, I GET to tithe, that it is an opportunity for God to bless me.  That simple truth changed how I viewed it, changed my life, I was educated by reading Malachi 3:10.  Now I realize that tithing is a privilege, it means God has blessed me with income and I am passionate to honor Him with my firstfruits.

Whatever the different areas of your life where you have convictions, pray that God makes you passionate about them! It will change you now and forevermore, In Jesus Name, Amen.

Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith.  For the joy set before Him He endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.  Consider Him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.  Hebrews 12:2-3 (NIV)

For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.  John 3:16 (NIV)

For God is not unrighteous to forget or overlook your labor and the love which you have shown for His Name’s sake in ministering to the needs of the saints (His own consecrated people), as you still do.  But we do [strongly and earnestly] desire for each of you to show the same diligence and sincerity [all the way through] in realizing and enjoying the full assurance and development of [your] hope until the end.  Hebrews 6:10-11 (AMP)
